The Barrow County Superior Court recently sentenced the following people. Those charged and their sentences are listed below. Charges listed as nolle prosequi are those in which the prosecutor or plaintiff indicated they would not proceed with the case. In criminal cases, a disposition of nolle prosequi may be entered when evidence proves innocence or charges cannot otherwise be proved.
The following sentences were issued as part of negotiated plea agreements on Sept. 13, 2010 with Superior Court Judge Currie Mingledorff presiding:
•Amy Storey Spelman, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute: ten years probation, serve two years suspended upon completion of the Lake House treatment program including psychological evaluation and substance abuse evaluation and pay a $3,500 fine. Possession of methamphetamine: nolle prosequi.
•Brian Lee Hughes, criminal trespass: 12 months probation less ten days in jail and a $300 fine.
•Keisha N. Olufesu, three counts of reckless conduct: three years probation, 60 hours of community service, parenting classes and a $2,000 fine.
The following sentences were issued as part of negotiated plea agreements on Sept. 15, 2010 with Superior Court Judge David Motes presiding:
•Bobby Arthur Pendley, entering auto, four counts of financial transaction card theft and two counts of theft by taking: first offender treatment, five years probation, complete Moral Reconation Therapy, pay restitution and a $6,000 fine.
•Karen Jeanette Bensinger, possession of cocaine: five years probation and a $2,000 fine.
•Darrious Dontra Teasley, theft by taking and criminal trespass: five years probation, two years to serve suspended upon completion of residential substance abuse treatment, $594 in restitution and a $750 fine. Burglary pled to lesser included offense of theft by taking, two counts of entering auto and criminal damage to property: ten years probation, two years to serve suspended upon completion of residential substance abuse treatment program, pay restitution and a $4,500 fine. Additional count of entering auto: five years probation, two years to serve suspended upon completion of residential substance abuse treatment program, pay restitution and a $1,000 fine. Criminal trespass: nolle prosequi.
•Darrious Deontae Teasley, theft by taking motor vehicle and contributing to the delinquency of a minor: ten years probation, two years to serve suspended upon completion of residential substance abuse treatment program, 100 hours of community service, pay restitution and a $1,500 fine.
•Durante Williams, child abandonment: 12 months in jail.
•Donquavian Montay Smith, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute pled to lesser included offense of possession of cocaine: ten years probation and a $1,000 fine. Crossing the guardline with a controlled substance: nolle prosequi.
•Bridget Lynell Stamey, entering auto: five years probation less 30 days confinement, 40 days of community service, Moral Reconation Therapy, restitution and a $1,000 fine. Theft by receiving stolen property: 12 months probation less 30 days confinement and a $500 fine. Obstruction: nolle prosequi.
•Ricky Lee Page, possession of methamphetamine: three years in jail, 12 years probation and a $2,500 fine.
•Jonathan Pope, obstruction: 12 months probation and a $500 fine.
