City of Statham officials approved a new millage rate of 5.619 Tuesday night during its September meeting. The new rate is an increase from 5.285.
Mayor Robert Bridges said the increase was as high as the council could go without a tax increase on citizens. The new rate will still equal a $13,000 deduction in revenue for the city. The new rate was approved unanimously.
City clerk Susan Gabriel said the new rate would go into effect later this fall when tax bills are sent.
