Minor changes in vehicle tag requirements, mobile home age restrictions and the city’s sign ordinance were among the agenda items discussed by the Auburn City Council last week.
The council also approved pursuit of up to $500,000 in federal funds to help Auburn Elementary students get to school more safely and adopted the millage rate for property belonging to Auburn residents who live in Gwinnett County.
The meeting got off to an emotional start when Judge Advocate Steve Pierce of AMVETS Post 12, surprised Auburn mayor Linda Blechinger with an American flag that flew over NMCB 21 in Kandahar, Afghanistan in her honor on July 30, 2010. Pierce told the tearful mayor, “it (the flag) still has sand on it.”
