Two burglars are behind bars after being arrested by Statham Police last week.
Shaka Denard Bolton , 21, of 1678 Doc McLocklin Road in Statham, was charged with burglary after he was caught with stolen merchandise. A Statham officer was investigating a suspicious person when he saw Bolton leaving the rear of the store on a bicycle. Bolton initially provided the officer with a false name and was later discovered to have items stolen from the business in his possession. Bolton is also facing charges of giving false information to a law enforcement officer and two counts of probation violation.
On Sept. 6, police made a second burglary arrest. Charles Edward Marcum, 34, of 1840 Barber Creek Road in Statham, was charged with burglary and theft by taking after an investigation into a residential burglary on McCarty Road. The stolen property was recovered and returned to the rightful owner.
Other recent arrests made by Statham Police include:
•Francisco Anaya Moreno, 22, Apperson Drive, Winder, driving while unlicensed.
•Jacob Richard Roberts, 22, 2508 Bear Creek Road, Statham, DUI.
•Rosario Adrian Chacon, 32, 225 Lonestar Drive, Bogart, driving while unlicensed.
•Rosa Padilla Perez, 27, 1495 Hwy. 29, Athens, driving while unlicensed.
•Randy Gilbert Burton, 47, 553 Peters Street, Statham, outstanding warrants.
•Courtney Marquez Billings, 40, 2017 Venture Street, Statham, outstanding warrants.
Statham Police also investigated several incidents during the past week including a Sept. 12 burglary on Atlanta Highway, a Sept. 9 report of criminal trespass on Railroad Street and a Sept. 8 report of terroristic threats on Greenfield Drive.
For the week, Statham officers issued 23 citations and four traffic warnings.
