Owners cited after pit bull attacks neighbor’s labrador
A man and a woman were cited after the man’s pit bull attacked the woman’s labrador retriever.
A deputy was dispatched to a Phillipsburg Drive address after the woman reported that her dog had been attacked.
According to the woman, her children were in the yard with her dog when the neighbor’s pit bull came into the yard and began fighting with her labrador retriever.
The pit bull’s owner retrieved the dog, but allegedly became very loud and argumentative with the woman. When the woman said she was calling authorities, the man took his dog and returned to his house.
The woman said her neighbor’s dog has attacked other people in the past. In August, a deputy was dispatched to the neighborhood after the pit bull bit two people while they were walking their dogs.
The pit bull owner said he was in his yard with his dog at the time of the attack. The man said he did not realize his neighbor’s dog was outside. When he noticed the dogs fighting, he immediately retrieved his canine.
The deputy noticed two pit bulls inside the man’s residence. The deputy wrote that one of the pit bulls appeared “very hostile and aggressive.”
A Barrow County Animal Control officer was called to the scene and met with both dog owners. The animal control officer cited both owners for allowing their dogs to be unleashed. The officer also took the pit bull into custody due to the current attack and other previously reported incidents.
The Labrador suffered minor injuries including a cut on his chin and inner mouth. No other actions were taken.
