Road check nets previously deported felon

When stopped at the check point, Jesus Ocampa-Rifa, 42, of West New Street in Winder, provided the deputy with what appeared to be a driver’s license issued by the state of Washington. Ocampa-Rifa admitted living in Georgia for more than six months, but had not obtained a Georgia license.

A check of Ocampa-Rifa’s identification revealed that he was not licensed in Washington or Georgia. The computer return did indicate that he was a previously deported felon who had 23 known aliases.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) was contacted. ICE requested Ocampa-Rifa be detained until positive identification could be made.

Ocampa-Rifa was placed under arrest for driving while unlicensed and transported to the Barrow County Detention Center where he was detained under an immigration hold.
