City of Auburn residents will soon be paying $30 per year in a new stormwater tax while commercial property in the town will be charged up to $600 per year, depending on the size of the impervious surface.
The Auburn City Council approved the new taxes Sept. 2. Residential customers will be billed an extra $2.50 per month on their water bills to pay for the tax while commercial customers will pay in three payments, or one lump sum.
The new stormwater taxes go into effect on January 1, 2011 and a grace period will be given.

Well the next time your yard floods, don't call city...The city has spend hours away from their every day job and families to fix your storm water problem...do like I did, get a boat...

That is just an outrageous statement. The city workers spend hours away from their families fixing drainage problems because it is their EVERYDAY job. It is the city's responsiblity to provide this service, as well as provide road maintenance, ensure public safety, etc. Isn't that way we already pay all the other taxes to them?
