Winder man killed in grocery store shooting

According to Forsyth County Sheriff Ted Paxton, Casto was left in the cooler with one of the gunmen while the male and female employees were escorted to the office. When the two employees were brought back to the cooler, Casto was dead. The two employees were left in the cooler with Casto’s body while the gunmen fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Paxton said Casto was shot in the head and it appeared as if Casto had been disarmed, “well before he was shot.”

The male and female employees were later able to free themselves and call 911. Neither was harmed during the robbery.

Though both employees were initially believed to be victims, authorities later determined that the male employee, Sharod Johnson, 18, was a co-conspirator.

Johnson and 19-year-old Tyrice Adside have been charged with murder and armed robbery. Two teenage boys are being questioned in connection with the crime.

Paxton said the Ingles robbery may be related to two other recent armed robberies – one at a Waffle House and one at a convenience store.

“There are similarities between all three robberies,” he said.

The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office is assisting the City of Cumming Police Department in the investigation.
