The Auburn City Council has scheduled a called meeting Wednesday, Aug. 25, to discuss a new storm water tax.
Mayor Linda Blechinger said the purpose of the 6 p.m. meeting is to make sure the city council understands an alternative rate structure presented by the city staff for the first time at the city's second public hearing last night.
The council will choose which rate structure to impose when it votes on the tax Sept. 2.
The alternative structure was developed last week in response to complaints from business people during the first public hearing two weeks ago.
The new rate plan would significantly reduce the proposed storm water assessment on non-residential properties and would limit the annual cost on single-family parcels to a flat rate of $30.
The council's chambers are adjacent to the Auburn Police Department.
