The Barrow County Superior Court recently sentenced the following people. Those charged and their sentences are listed below. Charges listed as nolle prosequi are those in which the prosecutor or plaintiff indicated they would not proceed with the case. In criminal cases, a disposition of nolle prosequi may be entered when evidence proves innocence or charges cannot otherwise be proved.
The following sentences were issued as part of negotiated plea agreements on August 9 - 12, 2010 with Superior Court Judge T. Penn McWhorter presiding:
•John Blake Alexander, weaving over roadway and defective equipment: 12 months probation and a $600 fine. Hit and run and failure to report an accident: nolle prosequi.
•Annie Sue Scruggs, obstruction, 12 months probation and a $500 fine.
•Daniel Renteria, DUI less safe: 12 months probation, 40 hours of community service, alcohol drug evaluation, risk reduction and a $1,000 fine. DUI: nolle prosequi.
•Jesse Jack, DUI less safe: 12 months probation, 40 hours of community service, alcohol drug evaluation, risk reduction and a $750 fine. DUI and seatbelt violation: nolle prosequi.
•Debra Queen, family violence battery pled to the lesser included offense of affray: 12 months probation and a $400 fine. Disorderly conduct: nolle prosequi.
•Bruce Bell, DUI less safe merged with charge of failure to maintain lane: 12 months probation, 40 hours of community service, alcohol drug evaluation, risk reduction and a $1,000 fine.
•Juan Ignacio Perez, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane and too fast for conditions, two years probation, 100 hours of community service, risk reduction, alcohol and drug evaluation and a $3,000 fine.
•Amanda Gale Pendergrass, possession of methamphetamine and possession of a drug related object: five years probation and a $1,000 fine.
•Elijah Klumb, DUI drugs, driving while license suspended, possession of MDMA and possession of marijuana: five years probation, 40 hours of community service, substance abuse evaluation, risk reduction and a $3,000 fine. Improper stopping in the roadway: nolle prosequi.
•Justin Franklin Bridges, family violence battery: 12 months probation less ten days confinement, no violent contact with victim and a $1,000 fine. Theft by receiving stolen property: 12 months probation, restitution and a $500 fine. Theft by deception: nolle prosequi.
•Jonathan Michael Cooper, theft by shoplifting: 30 days in jail, 11 months probation, restitution and a $500 fine.
•Jeffrey Andrew Thorton, obstruction: six months in jail, six months probation and a $750 fine. Criminal trespass: nolle prosequi.
•Bartunde Baker, family violence simple battery, simple assault and criminal trespass: two years probation less 10 days confinement, no violent contact with victim and a $1,000 fine. Family violence simple battery and disorderly conduct: two years probation less ten days confinement, no violent contact with victims and a $500 fine. Two counts of family violence simple assault: nolle prosequi.
•Daryl Edwards, obstruction: 30 days in jail, one year and 11 months probation and a $1,000 fine.
•Daniel Aiken, DUI less safe pled to lesser included offense of reckless driving: 12 months probation, 40 hours of community service and a $1,000 fine. DUI: nolle prosequi.
•Margot Toney, homicide by vehicle: two years probation and a $1,000 fine.
•Michael Lindsey Miller, possession of dangerous drugs: 12 months probation less 60-120 days in a state detention center and a $250 fine.
•Charles Edward Sather, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and obstruction: two years probation less 44 days confinement and a $750 fine. Interference with custody: nolle prosequi.
•Joshua Lloyd Hinkson, disorderly conduct: 12 months probation less 20 days confinement and a $500 fine.
•Pierce Williams, DUI less safe pled to lesser included offense of reckless driving and expired tag: 12 months probation, 40 hours of community service, alcohol and drug evaluation, risk reduction and a $1,500 fine. Weaving over roadway: nolle prosequi.
•Christian Threlkeld, battery and third degree cruelty to children: 12 months probation and a $500 fine.
•Marquise Williams, possession of less than one ounce of marijuana and criminal trespass: 12 months probation less 10 days in confinement plus a $1,250 fine.
•Latonya Elizabeth Hill, battery and third degree cruelty to children: 12 months probation less 15 days confinement, no violent contact with victims and a $1,000 fine. Additional count of third degree cruelty to children: nolle prosequi.
•Bonnie Merrell, DUI: 12 months probation less one day in jail, 40 hours of community service and a $500 fine.
