The Statham Police Department now has a social media presence.
The department recently created its own Facebook page. The department is using the social networking site to post information about the department as well as public advisories regarding criminal activity in the area.
This past weekend, the department released information regarding a recent string of copper thefts. Statham has experienced theft of copper from vacant houses, outside air conditioning units and a local church. The police department is asking residents to be vigilant and pay close attention to nearby vacant homes. Any suspicious activity should be reported by calling 911.
Other recent incidents investigated by Statham Police include:
•a suspicious person call on August 10.
•a damage to property report on August 9.
Only one accident was investigated last week. A two vehicle collision occurred on August 13 in the parking lot of an Atlanta Highway convenience store. There were no injuries and only minor damage.
For the week, Statham officers issued 16 traffic citations and four warnings.
