A Bethlehem man contacted authorities seeking help for his 17-year-old step daughter.
Teen misses 85 days of school with help of boyfriend
The man said his stepdaughter is dating a nineteen year old male who he believes is abusive.
The man said his stepdaughter has returned home with bruises and is constantly being screamed at by her boyfriend.
The man said he has banned the boyfriend from his property, but the male lives near enough that his stepdaughter still manages to see him.
The man expressed concerns for his stepdaughter’s safety and said he was also concerned about her academic performance.
According to the man, the boyfriend managed to get his name added to the list of people who were approved to check his stepdaughter out of school. As a result, the man said his stepdaughter was checked out of school a total of 85 times without her parent’s permission during the previous school year.
The stepdaughter admitted forging her mother’s signature to numerous absentee notes.
The man said the boyfriend’s mother has called trying to convince him to allow her son to date his stepdaughter. The man refused saying he did not want the boyfriend or the boyfriend’s mother to call or text anyone in his family.
The deputy went to Apalachee High School to speak with the stepdaughter and the school resource officers. The school resource officers advised the front office to notify them if anyone attempted to check the female out of school and also prepared a notice of prohibited entry to serve against the boyfriend should he come onto school property.
