Thirty people are in jail and more arrests are expected by the end of the day as the Barrow County Crime Task Force wraps up a three month long operation.
Law enforcement officers from the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office, Winder Police Department, Statham Police Department, Auburn Police Department, and the Department of Pardons and Parole participated in the August 8 sweep.
“The intent of the task force is to fight the drug trade which leads to other violent crimes, in Barrow County, and all of our local municipalities," said Barrow County Sheriff Jud Smith.
The task force began operation in February 2010, and includes the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office, Winder Police Department and Statham Police Department.
Smith, Winder Police Chief Stanley Rodgers and Statham Police Chief Steve Martin said the task force has improved drug enforcement ability for their respective agencies.
Martin emphasized the benefit of working together to fight crime.
“We can do so much more as a team than as an individual department,” he said.
Residents of Barrow County who would like to report drug activity are asked to contact the Barrow County Crime Task Force at (770) 307-3080 ext. 2996.
I just don't get how we will take down drug dealers By busting them then giving them the chance to be free. Ex. Bob gets busted with narcotics. They take him back to the station and he is litterally let go an hour after being interrigated and promised no trouble. Bob is back on meth that night, and the three he snitched on do exactly the same???They snitch.
How can we get the drug dealers off the street if we put them back on within an hour of them being busted??? If a drug dealer knows he can snitch...he will and the only thing that the police is doing wasting our time with this method. Wasting counties money on cars getting little undercover girls to do work for them. smh....Barrow county is corrupt.
Of course, the response to the above from the brain-dead bible-thumping mob that infests Barrow will be that I am a dope-dealing dope fiend.
Nope, neither.
Just someone who agrees with Neal Boortz and Wm. F. Buckley on this topic.
And I think they should rot in jail.
And for those calling for programs to make sure people are not abusing prescription drugs.... That means that the goverment would have to get involved right? Ok, the govt gets involved and next week you would be complaining that your loved one had to wait an extra day to get their bottle filled.
I knew a woman who was married to someone who was a good guy, got hooked on pills then went to crack. Changed him totaly. Once on the crack he started robbing people, well then it went to murdering an elderly couple which he robbed for 3 days while they lay in their home.
No lets let these people run the streets, not hurting anyone but themselves?
Some people need to use their brains because drugs effect us all in one way or another.
