During the week of July 23 through July 29, Barrow County fire and emergency services personnel handled 113 calls for service.
Overall, communications officers received 3,317 calls in the dispatch center. Of these, 887 were 911 calls.
Incidents handled by firefighters and emergency medical technicians included:
•two car accident on Atlanta Highway. On July 23 at 2:44 p.m., Ladder 7, Engine 4, Med 7 and 4 and Battalion 1 responded to 440 Atlanta Highway for a two car accident. Upon arrival, firefighters found one fatality and transported four others. Crew also performed extrication to remove the driver of one vehicle.
•two car accident on Loganville Highway. On July 24 at 11:41 a.m., Engine 7 and Med 7 responded to the intersection of Loganville Highway and Highway 316 for a twocar accident. No injuries were reported.
•two car accident on Hwy. 316. On July 25 at 4:10 p.m., Ladder 7, Engine 3, Med 7 and 3 and Battalion 1 responded to Highway 316 at Carl Bethlehem Road in reference to a two-car accident. Upon arrival, crews found two adults and one juvenile patient. One of the patients was trapped inside their vehicle. Due to the extent of the injuries, two medical helicopters were called to the scene. Two patients were transported by helicopter and the third patient was taken by ambulance to a local hospital.
•lightning strike on Natasha Drive. On July 26 at 7:57 p.m., Engine 4 responded to 497 Natasha Drive after a reported lightning strike. Upon arrival, crews found lightning had struck a television cable causing it to break free from the residence. Crews also found small burn marks on the residence, but no fire was discovered.
•residential fire alarm on Pleasant Hill Road. On July 26 at 8:19 p.m., Engine 6 responded to a residential fire alarm in the 100 block of Pleasant Hill Church Rd. Upon arrival crews met with the homeowner who said the alarm had been triggered by smoke from a grill on the back deck.
•two car accident on Old Hog Mountain Road. On July 27 at 8:57 a.m., Engine 5 and Med 5 responded to the intersection of Old Hog Mountain Road and Boss Hardy Road for a two-car accident. There were no injuries.
•child locked in a vehicle on Clover Drive. On July 27 at 7:55 p.m., Engine 4 responded to 293 Clover Drive for a child locked in a vehicle. Engine 4 unlocked the vehicle and removed the child.
•two car accident on Atlanta Highway. On July 29, Engine 4, Med 7 and Battalion 1 responded to the intersection of Atlanta Highway and Business Center Drive in response to a two-car accident. Crews transported one patient to an area hospital.
