Girlfriend moves out, takes $20,000 from bank account
A bad week took a turn for the worse after a Winder man lost both his girlfriend and a large sum of money.
The man said on the day his live-in girlfriend left his house, he had $22,750 in his bank account. Three days later, his girlfriend had still not returned and he discovered that his banking account had been emptied of $20,000.
The man said he added his girlfriend to his account several years ago when he was ill. The man made the change so that his girlfriend could cash checks in order to pay bills.
Upon learning that the money was missing from his account, the man contacted his girlfriend’s son to ask if he knew anything about the $20,000.
The son said his mother had taken the money because the man owed it to her. The son advised that his mother had deposited the money in her Bank of America account.
The man said he had attempted to contact his bank about the incident, but had not been able to reach anyone.
The whereabouts of his girlfriend remain unknown.
