The Barrow County Sheriff’s Office is looking for riders to participate in the department’s 10th annual motorcycle Poker Run.
The charity event is scheduled for Sep. 18.
Registration begins at 8 a.m. at the old courthouse in downtown Winder. The first bike leaves at 9 a.m. Participants will follow a route which will end by 2 p.m. at the Lake Hartwell Big Oak Recreation Area. Lunch will be served at the end of the ride.
Riders will draw a playing card at five checkpoints established throughout the course. The riders holding the best hands at the end of the run will receive a cash prize. Tickets for door prizes will also be available. Registration is $15 per hand with $10 for each additional hand.
Proceeds from the event benefit the Sheriff’s Office P.L.A. Y. (Participating in the Lives of Area Youths) summer camp program, the BCSO Explorers Post and local charities including Peace Place and Tree House.
Event organizer Dep. Tim Laturell is currently seeking sponsors for the event. Laturell said the department is offering three levels of sponsorship: gold ($400), silver ($200) and bronze ($100).
Event sponsors will have their name or logo featured on the official Poker Run t-shirt. Gold level sponsors will be represented with a 4-5” logo, silver sponsors will be depicted with a 2-3” logo and bronze sponsors will have their name included on each shirt.
