After a 40-minute closed-door session Tuesday night, the Barrow County Board of Commissioners voted to accept the resignation of Lyn Clement, the longtime director of the Department of License & Permits.
There was no public discussion of the matter, and no one explained why it was necessary for the board to vote on Clement’s retirement.
The motion by Commissioner Larry Joe Wilburn simply stated that the board of commissioners “accept Lyn Clement’s retirement as discussed in executive session.”
The vote was unanimous, but Eva Elder was absent from the meeting.
With the public vote following an executive session to discuss personnel matters, it appears that the retirement may be a settlement.
Clement resigns employment

"The only major public controversy ..." If there was an executive session about personnel and a resignation letter was a accepted what are we to expect. It seemed like Clement was backpeddling from his staffs statements which would indicate one of them may not be telling the truth, thus I think the paper should do some digging. The truth should be exposed, this lack of transparency in our government has to end.

I'm sad to see Lyn Clement leave. He was a dedicated & hard working employee to this county for many years. My take is that he had his fill of Norma Jean Brown & Steve Worley using him as a scapegoat. All the best to you Lyn. You are a GOOD man!

I disagree with you about the paper should do more digging because all the media does is print half truths and what does it matter what words was said if he doesn't want to talk to the paper that is his god given right. But instead of you worrying about the small things that go on the goverment why don't you concern yourself in more important things such as where my and every other hard working person in this county's tax dollars go to. I also wanted everyone to know that i have known lyn for a long time and the things that he was accused of is nothing but a lie and if you knew him like i do then you should disregard all the trash that is being said and make sure he knows he has your support.

Lyn is a really good guy and I wish him the best of luck. Lyn was one of the hardest workers I know, he worked everyday and sometimes would come in on his off days just to make sure things were done. I wish the BC Journal would look into Norma Jean Brown and Steve Worley, they might find something. I know Lyn caught a lot of made up unwanted bull crap from their mistakes.
