Roofer bilks would-be customer, closes business
A Bethlehem man lost thousands of dollars after falling victim to a con artist.
The man said he paid a $3,871.56 deposit to Todd MacIver of Southern Roofing and Restoration Inc. The depos-it, made in March of this year, was a down payment on a new roof.
The victim said he became concerned when a representative from the company called to change the start date for his roofing job. After several weeks with no contact from the company and after several unsuccessful attempts to make contact with someone by phone, the victim went to the company’s office in Cumming. While at the office, the victim spoke with MacIver who reportedly gave him some roofing books and promised that someone would be in contact.
The victim later learned that the company had been closed and was the subject of several other investigations by other law enforcement agencies.
The victim also discovered that MacIver was listed as the proprietor of a recently opened roofing company named Weather Watch Roofing Company.
The victim was advised to contact the Sheriff’s Office if he had any further contact with MacIver.
The victim said he plans to file a civil suit.

I was also a victim of Southeastern Roofing and Restoration located in Cumming, Ga, owned by Steve Ervin. They gave me an estimate and contract for the repairs on my roof. I gave them a down payment in Feb and after several calls to the company and my roofing date postponed numerous times, I find out the company had closed and I never received a call or my money back. It is now being handled by the police department and hope they will put a stop to this con-artist.
