New CERT class forming

The next Barrow County Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training session begins in September.

CERT training provides participants with valuable skills to assist their family and community in the event of a natural or man-made disaster.

CERT classes include training in medical triage, small fire control, search and rescue and safety issues. Classes are free.

Just wondering if the time and money spent on the certs team should be spent on getting vol firefighter the would be used more than the certs team can any one tell me the last time they where used the vol firefighters would be used a lot more than the certs team would be.I know the vol would be a lot more usfull on a fire doing what the need to do instead of directing traffic.ask a firefighter what he would want vol or certs not that hard to figure out

Just wondering, I'm just wondering - how much money do you think CERT gets from the county? The amount would not make the difference you may think. Also, I agree that the Volunteer Fire Department needs funding but why should it come at the expense of another team meant to help our community in an emergency as well? Lastly, the grant funding that CERT does get does not take money away from other departments. Those departments would not qualify for the specific grants that CERT receives. If you are a volunteer in any capacity, I appreciate your service.

Holy run-on sentence, Batman! I certainly hope you don't have realistic aspirations of being a firefighter. I also highly doubt you have a really firm grasp of what a Community Emergency Response Team actually does. There is some excellent information available on the internet to help you a better understanding of what CERT's mission is.

What this county and its ISO rating DOES NOT need are volunteer firefighters.

The Federal Government provided funds for local CERT Groups.
