Woman brutally attacked by boyfriend
A Bethlehem woman was assaulted by her boyfriend after a minor disagreement.
The woman said she and Tracy Edward Johnson, 38, of 3230 Snows Mill Road in Monroe, had taken her two daughters to her grandmother’s house to go swimming.
Later that day, Johnson wanted to leave, but the woman and her children were not ready to go. The woman said she told Johnson to leave and asked him to come back later to get her and her daughters.
The woman said Johnson was upset because she would not leave with him, but left the residence without incident.
At approximately 11 p.m. that evening, the woman called Johnson and asked him to come back to the house to drive her and her children home.
Once Johnson arrived, he allegedly began yelling at the woman and accusing her of being disrespectful to him in front of her family.
The woman had already secured her children in the car and had climbed into the passenger side of the vehicle when Johnson reportedly grabbed her by the arm and dragged her across the vehicle and out the driver’s side door. The woman said Johnson then began hitting her head against the rear tire and fender.
The woman said she was able to get away, but felt as if she had nowhere to go so she got back into the car and left with Johnson.
The woman said the two began arguing again and Johnson hit her repeatedly in the face in front of her juvenile daughters. At some point, Johnson pulled off the road and dragged the woman out of the car and into the woods.
Despite her attempts to escape, Johnson continued to hit her. He then allegedly threw her to the ground and got on top of her. The woman said Johnson began strangling her as she struggled to get his hands off her neck. Johnson then turned the woman over, grabbed her jaw and twisted his hands in what the woman believes was an attempt to break her neck.
After managing to escape, the woman said she did not know where to go so she got back into the vehicle with Johnson.
Johnson then drove her home, but the woman said she waited until morning to call authorities because she feared what Johnson might do to her.
The woman had several visible injuries including bruises, cuts and a swollen eye.
As the deputy was gathering information for the report, the woman’s five-year-old daughter told the deputy that she saw Johnson hitting her mommy while they were inside the car.
A few minutes later, Johnson called the woman’s house. The woman handed the phone to a deputy who asked Johnson to meet at the Sheriff’s Office. Johnson agreed to do so.
At the Sheriff’s Office, Johnson accused the woman of hitting him while he was driving. He said he became angry and pulled over when she did so and admitted pulling her out of the vehicle. Johnson said the woman began begging him not to leave her, so he allowed her back inside the vehicle.
Johnson denied being abusive towards the woman and claimed she has a problem with drugs and alcohol.
Based on the physical evidence and the testimony from both parties, Johnson was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of third degree cruelty to children, battery, simple battery and kidnapping.
