Officers from the Chapter 92 Harold L Huff Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary recently attended the DAV Auxiliary Department of Georgia State Convention in Perry, where the organization received seven state awards for activities conducted by the members.
Awards presented were: 1st Place for Mae Holmes (overall activities), Legislative, and Americanism, and 2nd place for Non-VA Hospital, VAVS, Community Service, and Junior Activities for DAV Auxiliary Units in our size group.
“Our DAV Chapter and Auxiliary Unit have been in existence for four years, and this is only the second year we have submitted records for these activity awards, so we are very proud to win them,” organizers state. “Additionally, our Juniors group consists of only two members, so you can tell what wonderful members we have.”
Membership in DAV Auxiliary is open to all family members of American veterans who were disabled or died in military service - spouses, parents, siblings, children, grandparents, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The purpose of the Auxiliary is to help to make the lives of veterans and their family’s betterment, through service and other assistance.
DAV Chapter 92 and Auxiliary draws members from Jackson, Barrow, Clarke, Oconee, Madison and other surrounding counties. The group meets at 7 p.m. the first Tuesday of every month at theVeterans Memorial Park inOconeeCounty. Dinneris available at 6 p.m., prior to the meeting.
