The Town of Carl is awaiting distribution of 2011 SPLOST (Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax) funds and hoping for a fair allotment.
Mayor Dave Brock attended a meeting with other mayors in Barrow County regarding the funds.
Winder Mayor Chip Thompson has the authority to disburse the money to the other municipalities.
According to Brock, the cities are disappointed with the county disbursement of funds.
No discussion was held on what Carl plans to do with its allotment, only that the town hopes it receives its fair share.
OTHER BUSINESS
In other business at the Carl Town Council meeting Thursday night: •the town discussed its delivery of water, which is currently received from the City of Winder. Carl would like to look into receiving its water from Barrow County in the future.

•Brock reported that house address number signs for residents of the town would cost $15. Council member Truman Phillips said that some of that money goes to charity. The council decided it would send a letter to citizens seeing how many would be interested in these signs.
•it was reported that during the last storm, the computer, surveillance camera and fax machine at City Hall were all damaged. The computer and the fax machine have been fixed, however, the surveillance camera has not, and the warranty does not cover storms. The council said that it would contact Georgia Power to see if the company offers any protection.
•Attorney Robert Derrick explained to the council that Barrow County will not honor the 1980 annexation of Lake Elder, and that Carl will have to redo the annexation.
Brock said that he would visit residents to see if they would be interested in annexation of their property. Annexation fees will be waived.
•Brock reported that the SPLOST roads balance for the month of May was $10,422 and for recreation it was $10,282.
•Brock voiced concerns on the amount of fireplugs in the area, and said that he would look into the issue. No action was required.
