The Winder-Barrow Community Theatre summer season will open June 25 with “Hallelujah Girls.” This comedy about a group of feisty females in Eden Falls, Georgia, depicts events in an old church that has been turned into the SPA-DEE-DAH day spa. When an old ex-boyfriend shows up to help fix up the building, the sparks start to fly. Tickets are $10 per person. Performances are scheduled for June 25 and 26 at 7:30 p.m. The June 27 performance is scheduled for 3 p.m.
All ticket holders will receive a $10 coupon for the Touch of Eden day spa in Winder. Attendees may also purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win a gift certificate from the spa. The gift certificate, valued at $125, is good for a one hour massage and a full facial. Raffle tickets are $1 each or six for $5. All proceeds from the raffle will be used to support WBCT productions.
In July, the family classic “The Wizard of Oz” will be presented. Show dates are July 23 at 7:30 p.m. and July 24 at 11 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. This play is a dramatization by Anne Coulter Martens of the Frank Baum story. The performance features children and adults in the cast and is appropriate for all ages. Tickets are $5 for children 12 and under and $10 for ages 13 and up.
The last show of the summer, “Bye Bye Birdie,” will run on August 6, 7, 13 and 14 at 7:30 p.m. and on August 8 and 15 at 3 p.m. This musical comedy takes place in 1958 and is centered around an Elvis Presley type rock and roll superstar named Conrad Birdie. Tickets are $10 in advance for seniors/students and teachers and $12.50 in advance for adults.
During the summer season, WBCT is offering a three-for-one summer special which includes one ticket for each of the three summer shows. The cost is $25. The special three-for-one summer special ends on June 25 at 5 p.m.
Individual tickets for each show as well as the three-for-one summer special can be purchased at both ticket locations. Credit card orders can be placed at Winder City Hall (770-867-3106). Tickets may also be purchased at Pam Veader’s State Farm Insurance Office located at 41 S. Center Street in Winder (770-867-1679) using cash or check.
