A vacant mobile home was completely destroyed June 12 in what officials describe as “an undetermined human act.”
The Barrow County Fire and Emergency Services fire investigation unit and the Auburn Police Department are attempting to determine what caused the blaze which destroyed the residence located at 316 Carter Road.
Engines 4 and 5, Med 4 and Battalion 1 responded to the call at approximately 10 p.m. Saturday night. By the time firefighters arrived, the mobile home was well involved in fire.
“Crews made an aggressive attack from outside of the structure due to the amount of fire,” said Barrow County Emergency Services public information officer Lt. Scott Dakin.
Though the fire was quickly brought under control, the structure could not be saved.
According to the police report, several witnesses reported seeing an elderly man walking near the trailer before the fire started.
The incident remains under investigation.
