An Auburn man is facing several charges after a violent dispute with his father.
Zachary Allen Warziniack, 17, of 196 County Line Road in Auburn, reportedly became upset after his father struck the family dog on the nose with a rolled up newspaper.
The father said he “popped” the dog because it was barking during the night. According to the father, the dog yelped then went back to its bed.
The father had just returned to bed when Warziniack entered the bedroom and began yelling at his father for striking the dog.
The argument escalated with Warziniack allegedly becoming “verbally abusive” towards both parents. When Warziniack raised his fist as if he intended to strike his mother, the father intervened and began pushing Warziniack towards the stairs telling him to go back to bed.
At that point, Warziniack turned and punched his father in the face which prompted the mother to call 911.
Warziniack and his father struggled for several minutes before Warziniack retreated to his room. Warziniack’s two younger siblings were in the house at the time and heard the argument.
The father suffered multiple injuries including scratches to his neck and eye as well as a swollen nose from being punched.
Warziniack was placed under arrest for family violence battery, simple assault and cruelty to children.
