There will be a called meeting of the Winder City Council at 5:30 p.m. today. On the agenda are the recently announced $4.9 million loan for a project several council members knew nothing about, as well as an amendment to the FY2011 budget that was approved just last week.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture in late May announced preliminary approval of the loan for the construction of a new public works facility.
The facility proposed by the mayor is for the consolidation of several city departments. It would be built adjacent to the Cedar Creek Wastewater Reclamation Facility between Miles Patrick Road and Highway 53.
The second item on the agenda is a proposed amendment to the FY2011 budget that was approved June 8. The new fiscal year begins July 1.
The meeting is open to the public and will be held at the Winder Community Center at 113 E. Athens St.
