A recent BarrowJournal.com poll asked if respondents supported proposed plans to create low to moderate income housing in the Granite Hotel.
Over 32 percent of respondents indicated they did not believe such housing was appropriate for the building. An additional 27 percent of poll takers believe the building should only be used for commercial, not residential purposes.
Twenty-one percent of respondents supported the plan to convert the upper floor of the vacant building into residential housing, but a significant portion of voters – 18 percent – said the building should be demolished.
A new poll is posted each week on www.BarrowJournal.com.
