Clement refuses to speak with reporter

Building and Grounds Department director Lyn Clement has ordered the Barrow Journal not to call or set foot in his office.

The comment, relayed by an unidentified county employee, was made on May 21 when a reporter with the Journal called Clement to request information for a feature story about the old Barrow County courthouse.

The Building and Grounds Department employee who answered the phone said Clement had no comment for anyone with the Barrow Journal because the paper “does not print the truth.”

The employee went on to say that Clement would have “no comment ever” to the Journal and that the reporter should not call back.

The employee then asked if the reporter intended to quote her. When informed that was possible, the employee hung up the phone.

No amount of training is going to affect someone with this type of attitude.

He is not fit to serve in any role with the government. Does he treat citizens or those seeking permits with the same disrespect?

Save the taxpayers some money and skip the training.

Yes, Yes he does. You would not believe the way I've been treated each and ever time I've applied for permits. I was standing in the permit office once when an Asian couple came in to apply for a building permit and he REFUSED to give them one. Told them, they couldn't apply for the permit themselves, they couldn't act as their own builder/contractor; that they needed to hire a builder that his office approved of to get the permit. I knew that all of this was BS.

Mr. Clement does not own that house (the annex). The taxpayers do! Sorry to Mrs. Reed because she is a very nice & professional lady.

Why is the incompetence, laziness and now lack of professionalism that Clement has exhibited for years still being tolerated? Because he has a gift for kissing you know what. There is no reason this man should still be on the county pay roll, let alone be making the money he makes - not in these times!

Clement should have never been hired in the beginning. I've been told he couldn't even run his own construction business. Filled bankruptcy, hanging many out to dry. And then Barrow County hired him.

Ya know, if the paper reported every negative thing about me that they could dredge up, I wouldn't talk to them either.

If he wasn't such a nasty person then the paper won't have negatives to print, they would have positives.

Don't lose sight that Clement's is a county employee. Paid by the taxpayers. He is required to answer the taxpayer questions. And like Mr. Buffington stated, he is a taxpayer and should be respected as one.
The Journal is only giving the taxpayers the truth and Clements is afraid of the truth.

If you don't have anything to hide, why run/not talk!
