In just over an hour, Statham officers arrested two people and cited four others during a May 7 traffic safety check on Bethlehem Road.
The traffic arrests were in addition to the May 5 arrest of Malcolm Sanders, 17, of Statham, on various traffic offenses, the May 12 arrest of Alexandria Michelle Reynolds, 18, of Statham, for DUI and the May 16 arrest of Angel Martinez Bautista, 27, of Statham on charges of failure to yield, expired tag and driving while unlicensed.
Statham Police also arrested two people during the past two weeks on non-traffic related charges. David Webb, 26, of Statham, was charged with battery, simple battery and cruelty to children for his involvement in a May 3 domestic dispute on Sunset Drive. On May 12, Thomas Raymond Martin, 19, of Statham was charged with consumption of alcohol by a minor.
Other incidents investigated by Statham officers during the past two weeks include:
• a May 7 disturbance call on Third Street.
• a May 4 criminal trespass report on Oak Spring Street.
• a May 6 criminal trespass report on Sunset Drive.
• a May 6 theft by taking report on Railroad Street.
• a May 8 Barrow County EMS call on McCarty Road.
• a May 9 custody dispute in the Woodberry subdivision.
• a May 11 criminal trespass report in the Woodberry subdivision.
• a May 14 shoplifting incident on Atlanta Highway. Police are seeking two suspects in the case.
In the past two weeks, Statham officers also investigated five traffic accidents.
Two accidents occurred on May 5. The first accident took place at 12:04 p.m. on Second Street at its intersection with Elizabeth Street. One person sustained minor injuries, but refused treatment. Later that evening, a two vehicle accident occurred on Atlanta Highway at Commercial Drive. No injuries were reported.
On May 10, Statham officers responded to two hit and run accidents on Eighth Street just south of Atlanta Highway. The investigation revealed that the same vehicle was responsible for both accidents.
The driver of the vehicle, Elsea Randell Temple, 36, of Winder was later arrested by Winder Police and charged with two counts of hit and run in addition to numerous other traffic charges.
Also on May 10, a one car accident was reported on Railroad Street. There were no injuries.
For the past two weeks, Statham officers issued a total of 29 citations and seven warnings.
