WPD raising funds for Special Olympics

So far this year, the Winder Police Department has collected over $2,700 for the Georgia Special Olympics. Though pleased with their success to date, Capt. Dennis Dorsey said the department plans to continue their fundraising efforts over the next few months.

The department recently teamed up with the Arcade Police Department for “Cops on Top,” a fundraising event that supports Special Olympics Georgia. This is the second year in a row that The Winder Police Department has taken part in the event.

Dorsey said the event was a success.

“Last year we were able to donate over $3,500 to The Special Olympics of Georgia, and with our share of [this] event we are over $2,700 for this year,” he said.

Dorsey said anyone wishing to donate may stop by the police department or visit www.firstgiving.org/dennisdorsey. All donations are tax deductible.
