Woman unsuccessfully attempts to avoid ‘drama’

The woman said she and Joshua Jackson, 22, of 1041 Laboon Road in Monroe, had been seeing each other for approximately four months.

After Jackson’s “baby momma” began harassing her, the woman decided she did not want to involve her children in any “drama” and ended her relationship with Jackson.

On April 26, Jackson came to the woman’s apartment ostensibly to retrieve some belongings. The woman said she informed Jackson she did not wish to see him. At that point, Jackson allegedly pulled the woman out of the apartment and entered saying he needed to get his things. The woman, whose six-year-old daughter was sleeping, walked back inside the apartment and told Jackson to leave.

The woman said Jackson then grabbed her, threw her down on a couch and began hitting her. The woman tried several times to call 911, but said each time she tried to call Jackson would knock the phone from her hand.

After several minutes of struggling, Jackson left the apartment. Police located Jackson a short distance away and placed him under arrest for simple battery, interference with a 911 call and criminal trespass.

Jackson claimed that he only hit the woman because she hit him. The woman admitted hitting Jackson, but said she struck him only after he had pushed her onto the sofa and had hit her.
