Police investigate hit and run

Statham Police are currently searching for the driver of a green Honda which was recently involved in a hit and run. The driver, a Hispanic woman, was one of the parties in an April 30 accident on Railroad Street, but fled the scene before police arrived. No one was injured in the two car accident.

On April 27, police were called to another accident on Price Street near Atlanta Highway. Two people were transported to Athens Regional Medical Center after their vehicle overturned.

Last week, Statham police made two arrests. Sean Timothy Simmons, 38, of Statham, was arrested for probation violation on May 1. On April 26, police arrested Ricardo Sanchez for driving while unlicensed.

For the week, Statham officers issued 11 citations and six traffic warnings.
