The 59th anniversary of the National Day of Prayer will be celebrated locally on Thursday, May 6. Winder mayor Chip Thompson will lead the event.
The theme of this year’s program is “Prayer for such a time as this.” Organizers expect millions of people to participate in thousands of events nationwide. Shirley Dobson, Chairman of the National Day of Prayer Task Force and Franklin Graham, the honorary chairman, will lead a large event in Washington, D.C.
Winder’s program will begin at noon at the Winder Community Center located at 113 East Athens Street.
A prayer event will also be held in Bethlehem at noon in the town square.
