House severely damaged by runaway vehicle
A Clearwater Drive residence sustained over $75,000 in damages after a vehicle crashed into the front of the house.
The vehicle owner said she was preparing to move her 2004 Saturn Ion so that she could cut the grass. The woman said she put the vehicle in reverse before turning the ignition. When she put the vehicle in reverse, it began rolling down her driveway. The woman said she attempted to stop the car, but could not. The vehicle continued down the drive, across the road and into the front wall of her neighbor’s home.
The neighbor was in the living room feeding one of her children when she heard a loud crash. She ran to her front bedroom where she noticed glass and an entire window on the floor. Her other child was in another bedroom and was uninjured.
The home sustained extensive damage, according to the report.
The Saturn was also extensively damaged. The owner of the Saturn said she was not in the car when it rolled into her neighbor’s house.
