Police identify robbery suspect

Winder Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a suspect from an April 27 robbery at the Best Western on West Athens Street.

Police have identified Phillip Wells, 27, as the suspect in the incident. Wells is facing charges of armed robbery, aggravated assault, possession of firearm by convicted felon, possession of firearm during the commission of a crime and carrying a pistol without a license.

Wells allegedly brandished a handgun at a hotel clerk and escaped with more than $300 from the hotel cash drawer.
