Bernstein to help conduct tennis clinic

Tennis drills and lessons will be offered Saturday at Riverwalk YMCA, located off Tom Miller Road near Bethlehem.

Former Winder-Barrow High School tennis standout Drake Bernstein will help conduct the event. Berstein currently competes for the University of Georgia.

Other instructors will include members and coaches and of the WBHS boys and girls tennis teams and coach Jeff Bernstein.

The event will be from 9 a.m. until noon. The admission price is $10 with donations going to the WBHS Tennis Booster Club. Drake Bernstein will compete in exhibition play for those attending.

Funds raised will help with the resurfacing and other needed repairs to the WBHS tennis courts, including the commemorative stone set in the memory of WBHS student Errol Ridgeway.

The tennis courts have not been resurfaced since 1977. They are in hideous shape and resurfacing is vital to ensure the SAFETY of the kids. This the only location that the boys team has available to practice.

If you drive by WBHS, you will see a nice football field with a new field house. Soccer is now allowed to play on the football field. Cross Country has a nice facility. The basketball team has a brand new gym. Baseball facilities are superior compared to other counties.

It is great that WBHS has these above facilities for the student athletes.

Then take a look at the tennis courts! Pitiful! Hope that these kids have success with this event. All Sports Booster: please consider supporting this effort and let's get these 33 year old tired courts repaired.
