Jealous husband attacks wife

Upon arrival at the scene, the deputy met with a woman who said she and her husband had been arguing all day because the woman had been spending time in Alabama with her daughter. The woman said her husband, David Johns, age 58, of 805 Coosawilla Way in Winder, has become increasingly jealous of her relationship with her daughter. The woman said Johns had installed a GPS device on her car so that he could track her movements at all times. The woman said her husband also required her to print out her cell phone records so that he could review her calls.

After an argument earlier in the evening, the woman said she was tired and decided to go to bed. When she tried to go to sleep, Johns began making a lot of noise. The woman said she took a video camera and walked into the living room to confront him. When Johns saw the video camera, he began chasing the woman in an attempt to take the device.

The woman said she told Johns to leave her alone or she would call 911. Johns then confiscated a nearby phone and headed upstairs to get another phone. The woman was able to dial 911 on a bedroom phone that Johns missed. According to the woman, Johns hung up the phone after running back into the bedroom pinning her to the ground.

The woman admitted biting Johns arm in an attempt to stop the assault. When communications officers with 911 called, Johns told them everything was ok before fleeing from the residence.

While the deputy was at the residence interviewing the woman, Johns called the house. The woman handed the phone to the deputy. The deputy asked Johns to meet with him and provide a statement. Johns refused, but did give the deputy his location. A Jackson County deputy was dispatched to arrest Johns.

The deputy later met the Jackson County deputy and took Johns into custody. After reading Johns his Miranda warning, the deputy asked if he wished to make a statement. Johns admitted that he and his wife had been arguing, but denied that any violence had occurred.

Johns was charged with family violence battery and interference with a 911 call.
