A recent BarrowJournal.com poll asked respondents how they would deal with the county’s ongoing budget crisis.
A majority of poll participants, over 37 percent, indicated support for increasing taxes.
Service cuts were favored by 29 percent of respondents with layoffs and public safety budget reductions each garnering 14 percent of the vote.
Seven percent of poll takers voiced other answers which included recalling or voting out Barrow County commission chairman Danny Yearwood, voting out the entire county commission, reducing salaries of county employees and borrowing money.
