The Barrow County Historical Society will host a fundraising auction on Armed Forces Day, Saturday, May 15.
The auction will be held at the Barrow County Museum, located at 74 West Athens Street in Winder.
Museum curator Beth Barton said over 100 lots will be offered. Items up for auction include furniture, doors, mantels, chests, chairs, lamps, tables and a variety of costume jewelry. An entire bedroom suite will be offered for sale along with other unique items including a piano, sewing machine and an antique wheelchair.
Historical society member and licensed auctioneer Sheila Hawthorne has donated her services for the event. Additionally, no buyer’s fee will be assessed on any winning bids during the auction.
The auction is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. A preview of the items to be offered at auction will be held the evening of May 14 and the morning of the auction.
BBQ, hot dogs, hamburgers and other refreshments will be available for purchase.
All proceeds from the auction will benefit the Barrow County Historical Society. Anyone wishing to donate items for the auction should contact Beth Barton at 770-868-7573.
