A Winder woman was arrested after repeatedly striking her husband and ripping off his clothes.
Janie Lee Krett, 33, of 301 Chimney Trace Drive in Winder, called the Sheriff’s Office to report that she and her husband of nine years had been in a physical altercation.
Krett said she and her friends had spent the evening at Downriggers bar. When she arrived home, she asked her husband for the keys to their truck so that she could return some of her friend’s belongings.
Krett said her husband refused to give her the keys and began to strangle her. According to Krett, the two continued to struggle and ended up in the driveway. Krett claimed she called 911 after her husband again strangled her and pushed her to the ground.
Krett’s husband admitted that he refused to give Krett the keys to the vehicle.
The husband said he hid the keys before going to bed because he knew that Krett was out drinking and had a tendency to want to drive after doing so.
The husband claimed he offered to drive Krett wherever she needed to go. At that point, Krett allegedly began striking her husband in the face. The husband tried to get away, but Krett continued to follow him saying she would rip the wiring out of the truck if he did not give her the keys. The husband admitted pulling Krett away from the vehicle and closing the door so that she could not get inside the truck.
According to the husband, Krett hit him several more times and grabbed his groin area. During the struggle, Krett reportedly grabbed her husband’s underwear and ripped it off. The husband said Krett scratched him on the back as he tried to go back inside the residence. The deputy noted that the man had several red scratch marks on his back. The man also had red marks around his neck and redness to his face.
When the deputy asked Krett how her husband received the scratch marks on his back, Krett said she scratched him when she was trying to get away from him.
Since Krett’s statements were not consistent with the physical evidence, the deputy placed the woman under arrest for family violence battery.
After Krett was secured in the back of the patrol car, she began banging her head against the cage. The deputy told Krett to stop hitting her head, but Krett hit her head several more times before stopping.
Krett was transported to the Barrow County Detention Center.
