An Apalachee High School student was arrested after allegedly shooting a neighbor with an Air Soft pellet gun.
Gary Wayne Chapman III, 18, of 1604 River Trace in Auburn, was charged with simple assault in connection with the March 30 incident.
The victim said she was driving into the neighborhood when she saw Chapman and another male holding a black gun and pointing it towards the road. The victim said Chapman pointed the gun at her and pulled the trigger.
When questioned by police, Chapman said he was firing the Air Soft gun at a target in the yard. The officer informed Chapman that Auburn City ordinances prohibited the firing of any type of gun within the city limits. Chapman denied pointing the gun at the victim.
The victim was able to positively identify Chapman as the shooter in a lineup held at the scene. Chapman was subsequently arrested.
Upon further questioning at the police department, Chapman continued to proclaim his innocence. He accused the victim of lying due to problems between the two in the past.
Other recent arrests made by Auburn Police include:
• Heidy Quinones Ellis, 27, 1218 Willow Drive, Auburn, battery, criminal trespass and cruelty to children.
Yeah, that sounds like some BS. And its not illigal to shoot a friggin bb gun in the city limits...much less an "air soft bb gun".
I had a stupid cop tell me before that it was illigal to shoot my gun on a sunday...outside of the city limits. Even though people hunt on sundays all across the country. And the only reasoning for that would be for religious reasons...and we have the whole seperation of church and state thing.
