A Winder woman has been arrested in connection with a March 10 accident which injured a Winder Barrow High School student as he crossed the road to board his bus.
Sarah Baldwin Cobb, 34, of 169 Woodlawn Avenue, was arrested March 29 and charged with causing serious injury by vehicle and passing a school bus while loading or unloading.
The victim, Dante Jones, a 15-year-old sophomore at Winder-Barrow High School, was struck by Cobb’s 1999 Mercedes Benz as he crossed Miles Patrick Road.
Several middle and high school students were on the bus and witnessed the accident.
Jones was transported to Athens Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
The initial investigation by Winder Police indicated that Cobb may have been distracted and failed to notice the bus’ flashing lights and stop sign. Cobb was interviewed and released from the scene, but authorities said at the time that charges would likely be filed.
