Husband charged with rape, battery

Chad Quinton Starling, 31, of 224 Nunnally Road in Winder, was arrested for probation violation on March 28. While at the residence, a deputy learned that a domestic dispute between Starling and his wife had taken place the previous night.

Initially Starling’s wife was reluctant to speak with the deputy saying she feared that Starling would kill her if he found out. Once the victim was assured that Starling was being transported to jail on the probation violation warrant, she agreed to tell the deputy what had transpired.

According to the victim, Starling had entered the living room the previous night and demanded that the victim have sex with him. The victim said their three year old child was in the room at the time. The victim repeatedly told Starling she did not want to have sex. Allegedly, Starling became increasingly vocal and violent. The victim said Starling grabbed her by the hair and yanked her off the sofa. The victim fled to the bathroom, but Starling followed. During a confrontation that was witnessed by two of the victim’s young children, Starling kicked the woman in the leg. Starling also reportedly threatened to kill the victim if she did not have sex with him.

The victim said she agreed to have sex with Starling so that he would not hurt her any further.

While the deputy was completing the report paperwork, the three year old child came to him and said she saw her father hit her mother. The six year old child also said he saw his father kick his mother. The child said he was afraid his father was going to kill his mother.

As a result of the statements given by the victim and the children, Starling was charged with family violence rape, terroristic threats and acts, simple assault, two counts of simple battery and cruelty to children.
