Man arrested after driving over 100 mph

Christopher Phetviexay, 20, of 498 Tucker Road in Winder, was traveling eastbound on Hwy. 316 between Carl Bethlehem Road and Patrick Mill Road when both deputies obtained radar readings indicating Phetviexay’s speed was 106 mph.

After being pulled over, Phetviexay was asked to step out of the vehicle. Phetviexay was unable to stand on his own. The deputy noted that Phetviexay had a strong odor of alcoholic beverage on his breath as well as slurred speech, glassy and bloodshot eyes and poor balance. Due to the level of Phetviexay’s impairment, field sobriety tests were not conducted and Phetviexay was placed under arrest.

On the way to the jail, Phetviexay vomited in the patrol car. He admitted drinking Heineken beer, but could not recall where he was when he consumed it.

Phetviexay was charged with DUI, speeding and reckless driving.
