Police were dispatched to a Third Avenue home after a man claimed he was jumped by two members of his extended family as he left his wife’s birthday party.
The man said he got into an argument with his wife’s uncle and cousin after the party. According to the man, the uncle and cousin jumped him as he was getting into his car and started beating him. The officer noted that the man had marks on his face, hands and neck and seemed “very angry” and intoxicated.
The man’s mother-in-law said the argument began when the man “began to run his mouth about the family.” The mother-in-law and the cousin followed the man into the yard where the man reportedly raised a beer bottle as if he intended to strike the cousin. The mother-in-law stepped between the two parties so that no physical contact would be made, but the cousin continued to argue with the man. The mother-in-law said the man then kicked the cousin and a struggle ensued. The mother-in-law attempted unsuccessfully to separate the parties.
The uncle of the man’s wife heard the scuffle and walked outside. The uncle admitted punching the man several times in the face so that he would get in his car and leave.
All parties declined to press charges, but asked that prohibited entry notices be served against their opponents.
