Auburn Police reported one arrest during the past week.
David Aaron Romine, 23, of 250 Epps Bridge Road in Athens, was charged with possession of less than one ounce of marijuana after officers discovered a green leafy substance in the driver’s seat of Romine’s vehicle. Romine was subsequently transported to the Gwinnett County jail.
Last week, police also responded to Glen Terrace Road to assist paramedics with a mental patient who was “tearing up the house” and yelling at neighbors. The man, a paranoid schizophrenic, reportedly had not been taking his medication for the past six years. After the man slammed several doors, knocked over the trash can and began shouting profanities at neighbors, his mother called for help.
Before police arrived, the man left the scene. The responding officer explained how to pursue a committal through the courts in order to have her son institutionalized.
In another incident, police were asked to assist a man with a custody dispute. The man requested documentation showing that his ex-girlfriend had not complied with the terms of a mutual custody agreement.
