The system, provided by InterAct Public Safety Systems, will replace the outdated phone system currently in use.
The Zetron 3200 E-911 system is compatible with the county’s computer aided dispatch (CAD) system and the current mapping program. It will also integrate with any radio system the county purchases in the future.
The new system will cost $228,200, including installation and the first year of maintenance. Maintenance charges for the first five years of use will be fixed at $13,500.
Barrow County Communications Director Kathy Wallace said the life expectancy of the new system is between five and ten years.
