The Peoples Bank along with the Community Bankers Association of Georgia (CBA) are accepting applications from local high school seniors for the Julian and Jan Hester Memorial Scholarship Fund. Applications for this $1,000 scholarship must be received by Jo Ann Nevins at The Peoples Bank, P.O. Box 788, Winder, Ga. 30680 no later than Apr. 2, 2010.
The scholarship is named for the late Jan Hester, daughter of Lalia and the late Julian Hester, long-time CEO of Community Bankers Association of Georgia. Jan was a senior at the University of Georgia when she died in an auto accident on Apr. 15, 1990.
The goal of this fund is to assist deserving high school seniors in their first year of college and to promote community banking. At least four scholarships are awarded throughout the state annually. They will be awarded to students planning to attend a Georgia university, college or technical institute (if program is two or more years) and will be based on merit, not need.
Contact Jo Ann Nevins at The Peoples Bank, 678-425-6755 or jnevins@tpbonline.com for more information and applications.
