Three arrested for trespassing
Three Winder men were charged with trespassing and one faces an additional charge of marijuana possession after police were called to an abandoned house on Pinkston Oaks Circle.
When police arrived, they found two cars parked outside and three men inside the vacant home. One of the men, later identified as William Leonard Alexander, 18, of 687 Smith Cemetery Road, fled when he spotted the officer. The two other men, Alex Sheroy Brown, 18, of 1408 Ericas Pointe Drive, and Michael Myers Heggood, 17, of 26 Lays Lane, were ordered to wait in the garage while the officer pursued Alexander.
The officer warned Alexander that he would be tased if he did not stop running. Before the officer could make good on the threat, Alexander tripped over a vine and fell.
After placing Alexander in handcuffs, the officer noted that the suspect’s eyes were blood shot and glassy and that his clothing smelled strongly of marijuana.
The officer returned with Alexander to the residence where he then arrested Brown and Heggood for unlawful entry.
While doing an impound inventory of Alexander’s car which had been parked in the driveway of the abandoned house, the officer found a cellophane wrapper containing marijuana.
Alexander was charged with possession of less than one ounce of marijuana as well as obstruction and unlawful entry.
While transporting Alexander and Heggood to the detention center, the officer overheard Alexander tell Heggood that he regretted buying the marijuana because it was not “his thing.”
