The Winder-Barrow High School boys basketball team is one win away from the Region 8-AAAA championship. Standing in the Bulldoggs' way, however, is the team which has been at the top of the mountain for all of Class AAAA throughout the 2009-2010 season.
WBHS (21-5) will meet No. 1-ranked Rockdale County (26-1) Saturday at 8:30 p.m. in the 8-AAAA tournament final. The game will be played at Monroe Area High School.
Coach David Sokol's team defeated Madison County 52-44 Friday night in the semifinals while Rockdale County stopped Clarke Central 67-53.
The Bulldoggs are already guaranteed a spot in the upcoming AAAA state tournament. The only question remaining is whether they enter as a No. 1 or No. 2 seed. Clarke Central and Madison County will play Saturday for the No. 3 seed.
